Alla LANDAR: «The state spent its creator, whose pen revealed the light texts of the Constitution and the Criminal Code of Ukraine»
On November 11, a farewell ceremony was held in the St. Michael's Golden-Top Cathedral for People's Deputy of the II, III, IV and VI convocations of the Verkhovna Rada, a member of the "Community", "Solidarity", "Our Ukraine" and "Our Ukraine – People's Self-Defense" factions, candidate for the President of Ukraine in the 1999 elections Yuriy Karmazin.
The Cathedral of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine met all the participants of the solemn farewell ceremony, who wanted to pay their last respects to the outstanding politician, the melody of the bells and the endless sea of fresh flowers.
«Yuriy Anatoliyovych – is a vivid example of a real state-building elite, for whom the rule of law was the main principle of life – is told by Alla Landar, Honored Worker of the Service Sector of Ukraine, National Member of Ukraine in the World Federation of Funeral Operators (FIAT-IFTA) and the International Federation of Directors of Funeral Agencies (NFDA), the owner of a funeral company, who organized the farewell procession, – endowed with the talent of real and genuine oratory, he is remembered in Ukrainian politics for his ability to actively eloquence, his ability to professionally and reasonedly defend his opinion with an undeniable combination and the ability to conduct a discussion from a position of respect for his opponent».
In the cross-domed hall of the cathedral, where the ceremony took place, the exhibition «Annals of Life» dedicated to Yuri Karmazin was organized: a photo gallery of bright political moments, photos with associates and like-minded people, politicians and religious figures during bright and social times significant events in the recent history of Ukraine, books authored by him, personal belongings and attributes iconic to history.
«Yuriy Anatoliyovych was always at the edge of life and firmly stood in the way of social tension. One cannot fail to mention the confrontation caused by the opening of the Ukrainian land market – recalls Alla Landar. – Back in February 2020, before the adoption of the Law On the Sale of Land, he not only expressed his legal position and pointed out all the dangers, but also offered a way out of the situation».
As separate an important milestone in his activity should be highlighted by the Basic Law of Ukraine. «I am ready to give my hand to fight back that our Constitution is more progressive than any, even the American one, – stressed Yuriy Karmazin, – but, my friends, the Constitution must be implemented. What are the problems in the state today? In that neither the Constitution nor the Laws are enforced!..»
As one of the authors of the Basic Law, Yuriy Karmazin literally interpreted the main articles, principles and sections of the Constitution to the general public, participated in discussions at all levels, recorded video stories on social networks and posted appeals on YouTube. During this process, his book «Constitution, which we defend», was born, which was also presented to the guests of the farewell ceremony. Now it is not just a publication and a full-fledged manual for pupils and students, but a postulate: The law should become a criterion for the real functioning of society and ensure its progressive movement forward.
Yuriy Karmazin became the «father of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. During its writing and preparation for approval, the politician used his many years of experience in the prosecutor's office and court and the baggage of parliamentarism to the fullest. His speeches and articles, in particular, about the concept of crime and the composition of the crime, punishment and its types, are especially valuable today’clarification of certain provisions of the systematized legislative act. More than one generation of lawyers in our country will be trained on these works and studies.
Ukraine rightfully highly appreciated and noted his activities for the benefit of the formation of the state. This was told by the exposition of numerous titles, awards, orders and medals, pam’yat gifts, honors, certificates and thanks. Advisor to the President of Ukraine, Honored Lawyer of Ukraine, Honorary Worker of the Prosecutor's Office of Ukraine, State Counselor of Justice of the 3rd class. But the distinction of the people became the most expensive for him: in May 2018, he was elected hetman of the Cossacks of all Ukraine.
«A statesman, politician and lawyer has passed away, the loss of which only time will help us seriously rethink and fully understand, – continues Alla Landar. – How are natural and social, individual and family, law and business related? What are our thoughts aimed at during the war? Yuriy Anatoliyovych consistently turned to the understanding and awareness of these, as well as numerous other issues of today, striving to develop new ways of solving problematic issues, to form a holistic approach to their understanding, to take into account the experience of the past in a new system of moves and coordinates».
Relatives and relatives, those who had to work with him, be and create together with him in the book «Man of the Age» left their memories of a high connoisseur and professional, politician and lawyer, writer and statesman, about his professional and human qualities.
The participant of the farewell ceremony had the opportunity not only to pay their last respects to an outstanding personality. Everyone received a personal space, where he personally filled the life story of a talented person with living testimonies and extraordinary personality. Inconspicuously for themselves, the participants of the annals became co-authors and creators of a book of memory for his descendants.
They wrote with their feelings, warmth and spiritual love with pride and gratitude for the time that had passed with him. From this variety of memories and episodes, sheets of sincere dedications appeared to the world, which created invaluable material for realizing who this great Man – Yuriy Karmazin was for everyone and will forever remain in their memory and their lives.
During the last months of the war, Yuriy Anatoliyovych actively commented on the situation in Ukraine on Facebook. He was listened to, his comments were reread by thousands of signatories around the world, his voice was at the forefront of the humanitarian struggle of our people against the racist onslaught.
From the last one on social networks: back on October 30, Yuriy Anatoliyovych was interested in painful energy issues and the consequences of the aggressor's strikes on infrastructure on the threshold of winter, and on the 25th – in the election of Rishi Sunak as prime minister and military aid to the Ukrainian people after the re-elections in Great Britain...
The heart of a loving father, husband, man and professional, who invested his soul and all his strength in the future of Independent Ukraine, stopped beating, and his heart always belonged to his children and grandchildren. The family lost its father and support, and the country lost its – founder and creator.
Archbishop Agapit of Vyshgorod, vicar of the Kyiv Diocese, vicar of the Mykhailiv Golden-Top Monastery, performed the rite of funeral and funeral service for Yuri Karmazin. Eternal memory!
We will forever remember his charming smile, the light and warmth of his humble stardom, and those who lived and walked next to him will be warmed by the warm embrace of the rays of this star for a long time to come. Everyone will remember him with gratitude, turn to him and wait for advice in difficult moments, but will definitely feel close soon – in times of victories and post-war development. When the triumph of law and the supremacy of the Constitution will become the basis of social guarantees and social protection of our people, which the outstanding politician and international lawyer started as a signpost of what he dreamed and fought for.
Not just a man of great heart, mind and selfless work went into eternity, but the owner of the prestige of the profession and the harbinger of the jurisprudence of the future. It is impossible to predict absolutely all changes, events and prospects for the development of society and its political life, but it is worth and necessary to try to form a certain «road map», give a legal assessment of it, calculate possible risks, based on the analysis of the current situation. This is how Yuriy Anatoliyovych Karmazin thought, and this is how he will enter the recent history of Ukraine.
